Accounting for Harm

A critical step towards healing and transformative change is acknowledging the harm to Black and latinx families caused by the family policing system. NTFD is working with the Commission on Racial Equity to establish a community-led Accountability Council.

Community-based Support for Families

Families must have the opportunity to seek assistance in their communities without fear and stigma of ACS involvement. NTFD is proposing an Office of Family Wellbeing to coordinate resources for families.

Cash Assistance

The majority of families come into contact with the child protective system because of poverty related hardship. Access to direct cash assistance or a guaranteed basic income would enable families to better meet their needs.

Racial Equity

The family regulation system operates within a context of laws and government actions that have long punished Black families. NTFD supports City and State leaders that seek to hold government accountable, drive change, and provide reparations.
